Projects in the works…
Sinsect: I’m finalizing the mixes for the Shadow Wars EP. This is EP is much more heavily drum n bass influenced, but it’s still pretty damn heavy and distorted. 3 new tracks, and maybe some remixes if I can beg borrow and steal for them. I’ll have remix packs together in a few weeks, and probably shoot for a June/July release.
After Shadow Wars, it’s back to writing and mixing Bug Life. Stylistically, this is much more like Darker Days Ahead, heavy, stompy powernoise, and this time with vocals! We’ll see how that goes. Looking to be 4-5 new tracks, and maybe some remixes.
Traumamatik: The harsher end of the spectrum. Mostly noise and rhythmic noise. a lot of material has already been recorded, just needs to be mixed. EP will probably be out in July/August.
Buglien: The not so harsh…Droney, dubby, trip-hop-y, ambient. With only a couple of pieces written, I don’t have a release date yet.
Solemn Assembly: I’m now the live electro drummer/live synth for the Dallas EBM band fronted by DJ Joe Virus. First show with them is April 29th @ the Lizard Lounge.
Lots of projects going on, so dates are subject to change. I’ll also be announcing my label/brand for all of this very soon, so keep watching!
Starting soon, I’ll be experimenting with a new release schedule/business model. I’ll be releasing digital 2 or 3 song singles or EPs a lot more frequently, probably using the “pay-what-you-want” option using Bandcamp. At the end of the year, there will be a “Best of/Unreleased/Remix” full album that will be released through all of the major digital outlets, with a possible limited CD run.
This will allow a lot more stylistic freedom, as well as economical freedom. I’m tired of sitting for months on what I think are good tracks while I try to get a full album to come together, only to realize that it really sounds like 2 or 3 different projects. With this new model, I can release a powernoise single one month, and a more drum n bass influenced single next month, and they can all stand on their own, without falling into the trap of creating “filler” material.
Economically, there are a ton of benefits. Most people seem to have an easier time rationalizing spending $2-$5 every month or two, instead of a one-time $10 (or more for CD+shipping). Throughout the year, this adds the possibility of funding the end of year release as a special edition.
And along with this, I will soon be announcing the new label that I’ll be forming to handle these Sinsect releases, along with my side projects Traumamatik & Buglien. More news coming soon on those as well.
I’m currently shooting for the first of these Sinsect EPs to be ready in May or June, and the output will be fairly steady from that point on, with new material every 6-8 weeks.
As always, I’m definitely open to any advise, input and help from masses.
1HRXRECORDS artist Pill Brigade has contributed a kickass stompin’ remix of Burn, available now for free on the remix page!
Work on Bug Life has kind of hit a standstill. 5 tracks almost finished, and then I haven’t been happy with anything that I’ve worked on since November. Everything just seems forced and contrived. So I’m taking a break from that for now, and working on the RPM Challenge. Much more free-form darkness.
Also have a show coming up on 3/13 here in Dallas. I’ll be performing at the “No Sleep No Silence” experimental art event. This will be a pretty experimental show, possibly with Scandalnavien helping me out. If there are any album tracks played, they’ll be so mutated and destroyed that they might as well be new. More info on that soon.
In other news, I have a couple remixes appearing soon on Crunch Pod, for C/A/T (Live With Myself), and Captive Six (SDE). Again, more on those as I get it.
Wow, it’s been a while since an update. The album has been out for a couple months now, and the response has been great! It’s had awesome radio support from cyberage.cx & ebm-radio.com. It’s had club play from 5arah @ Sadisco in Tuscon, AZ and Joe Virus here in Dallas, TX. Promos went out to a lot of DJs, so I don’t know if it’s getting play elsewhere. If you’re a DJ and have played it or want to play it, just hit me up here, Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, or Vampirefreaks (links in the sidebar). CDs are still available, and can be purchased here, or at DSBP.cx, or at…
SINSECT.BANDCAMP.COM
I’m giving this one a shot, with their “any format download”, and physical goods paypal linkage. Digital download is still available through iTunes or AmazonMP3.com, if you prefer those services.
In other news, new Sinsect demos are in various stages of writing and mixing, and I’m really happy with the direction it’s taking. It’s definitely more dancefloor friendly, but still with plenty of distortion, noise & ultra heavy beat. I’ll post a couple new tracks soon-ish. Which brings us too…
Sinsect used to be a noise/dark ambient/experimental project. I started doing powernoise under the name Traumamatik. For various reasons, I just switched it back the the Sinsect name, and killed Traumamatik. Well, I am now reviving Traumamatik as a harsh noise/rhythmic drone project. I’ve got some crazy plans in the works, and traumamatik.com will be back up soon to bring the pain!

Album has been finished for a while now, and steps have been started to get ready to release it properly-ish…writing has already begun on new material, kind of noise/breakcore/darkstep/ebm…if that makes sense…
